About the competition

In Sculpture Point:Ekebergparken, four different artists will be chosen to produce and display their own work in the sculpture park. The sculptures will be placed at the same spot in the Villa garden, and every winner will have their work displayed minimum a year at a time.

The project is developed by Ekebergparken, C. Ludens Ringnes Foundation, Talent Norge, Sparebankstiftelsen DNB and Norsk Billedhoggerforening (Norwegian Sculptors' Society).

The winners are chosen through a total of two nomination rounds, where two artists get chosen per round. The first nomination round was in the summer of 2023. The next round will be held in June of 2026.

The nominations are done by Ekebergparkens Art Council in collaboration with representatives from leading Norwegian art institutions. For each artwork there will be organised specialized mediational programs, seminars and workshops, as a contribution to the conversation on three-dimensional art in public space in Norway.

The project aims to elevate the public conversation regarding what three dimensional art is and can be, both through their different expressions of form and substance, and through the dialogue the artwork will have with the park’s nature as well as its permanent art collection
